Pilates Exercises on the Universal Reformer: A fundamental Pilates training program utilizing the Universal Reformer developed by the Late Joseph H. Pilates over 80 years ago. Students will learn over 170 exercises for beginner through advanced intermediate taught during this intensive 3-day format. Machine set up and safety, exercise progressions and regressions plus hands on teaching skills make this one of the most comprehensive teacher training programs available.
The beginner program consists of exercises appropriate for newcomers or for those teaching Reformer Group classes. The intermediate program offers more challenging moves both for private and group classes. Exercises performed on the footplate/jumpboard are also included in this program. Completion certificates are administered during the workshop. Testing is done during a Review and Testing weekend (held twice yearly in Florida) at least 6 months after this workshop. A minimum of 200 teaching hours must be provided in order to receive a teaching certificate. PIA workshops require no previous Pilates training however our Mat Foundations Workshop serves as a pre-requisite to all other courses. Students with a foundation training from another organization may be approved to take a PIA Equipment course upon completion of our Bridging Course - a home-study program that ensures all participants have the same foundational knowledge prior to a workshop ($49 includes testing). Not all organizations are approved. Call to see if you are a candidate.
