Frankie Puglisi - Education Director
Owner of Pilates Institute of America and Scoop! Fitness Pilates Studios, Pilates Master Teacher, Yoga Master Teacher, GYROTONIC® Teacher and protégé of Ms. Lolita San Miguel (first generation Pilates teacher)
Originally from the UK, Frankie graduated from the University of Sheffield in England with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Physiology. She immediately came to the United States to visit and ended up staying here.
Over the past 22 years Frankie has worked diligently in the health and wellness field earning over 15 different nationally recognized certifications in fitness and wellness, including personal trainer (ACE, ACSM, NSCA), fitness instructor (AFAA, ACE, AAAI/ISMA), Spinning (Madd Dog Athletics), Yoga (Power Flex Yoga), Pilates (STOTT Pilates and Lolita San Miguel protégé/assistant), GYROTONIC® and water aerobics (AAAI/ISMA).
She taught exercise classes in New York City for over 10 years and worked with rich and famous clients as a high profile personal trainer. During this time she began offering teacher training programs in Yoga and Pilates and also met her future husband, Lee Puglisi.
With Lee's help Pilates Institute of America (PIA) was born and became the largest Pilates teacher training and certification company in the United States in just 12 short months. PIA now boasts over 4500 instructors across the world, branching out recently into the Indian and south east Asian market.
In Florida since 1999, Lee and Frankie Puglisi own the Pilates Institute and two full service Pilates studios, one in South Florida and one in New York City, and are continuing to expand. The Puglisi's hope to continue to grow their studio base as well as continue to offer the finest in Pilates Teacher Training through PIA. The husband and wife Puglisi team is also expanding into other educational markets with a distance learning model available on the internet, instructional DVD's and Pilates studio licensing.
Frankie and Lee currently live in Wellington, Florida with their three children (Alex, Gwen and Dory), two Great Danes and 2 cats.
