A fundamental Pilates training program utilizing the Universal Reformer developed by the late Joseph H. Pilates over 80 years ago. This course is designed to give fitness, medical and wellness professionals the basic knowledge of Pilates exercises and general Pilates philosophies for use on the Pilates Reformer. The reformer trainging program is broken down into levels.
Reformer 1
The beginner reformer program consists of exercises appropriate for newcomers or for those teaching Reformer Group classes. Students will learn over 85 exercises for beginner through intermediate taught during this intensive 2-day format. Machine set up and safety, exercise progressions and regressions plus hands on teaching skills make this one of the most comprehensive teacher training programs available. Postural assessment and alignment will be addressed throughout the course as the fundamental principle behind the exercises. Students will be given enough information to teach a beginner/intermediate Pilates Reformer session or group class but emphasis is also placed on developing teaching skills, hands-on training competence and postural self-improvement for demonstration purposes.
Course Fee $459: Includes the Live Workshop, a Fully Illustrated Color Workbook, Continuing Education Credits and a Certificate of Completion.
Certification Testing Fee $19.95: For those wishing to teach the PIA Reformer 1 material to clients, a PIA Reformer 1 Certifcation is required. Within 90 days of taking your Reformer 1 Workshop you may enroll in our PIA Reformer 1 Certification Test and take the secure online test to receive your teaching certificate. Teaching certificates are good for 12 months from the date on which the test was passed and may be renewed by obtaining a minimum of 8 hours of continuing education.
Reformer 2
The second course of reformer exercises covers the intermediate repertoire and should follow the Reformer I course within 3-6 months. This intermediate program offers more challenging moves both for private and group reformer classes. The student learns around 75 intermediate exercises plus numerous intermediate variations of the beginner repertoire taught during this intensive 2-day format. This course plus its pre-requisite Reformer I give the student enough information to teach a beginner through advanced intermediate Pilates Reformer session or group class and will be able to perform all exercises as a teacher for demonstration purposes.
