Description: This Home Study Course is designed for Physical Therapists and PT Assistants that want to learn the foundation principles and philosophies of the late Joseph H. Pilates including his history, the benefits of Pilates, the specific techniques applicable to the physical therapy profession and a few basic Pilates exercises that can help patient and PT alike. It covers topics such as "What is Pilates?", "The Order of Exercises" and "The Pilates Scoop" amongst others, helping to de-mystify and qualify this amazing method of movement. The program illuminates Pilates' benefits for all who practice it and discusses ways that it can help the PT and patient overcome those nagging backaches and neck-aches most often caused by muscular mis-use and over-use. Several basic Pilates exercises are taught in detail to establish a foundation of understanding and basic physical fitness upon which to build additional Pilates training courses. It is a self-paced program that allows students to watch and re-watch demonstrations along with visual, audio and written explanations of over 40 beginner and intermediate Mat 1 exericses. The course includes streaming video and a downloadable color workbook. Following the course, students take an online test to earn their CE Credits (included in price of course). Those wishing to earn a Pilates Mat 1 Certification must take an additional Mat 1 Certifcation Exam for $49, available at the end of the course.
