BOSULATES
THIS IS A CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE. Mat Level I is a pre-requisite. The Bosu is a balance tool that looks like half of a stability ball. It can be used for many Pilates exercises, most of which are taken from the barrel workout and many are abdominal strengtheners and balance challenges. This course is designed to give Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants the basic knowledge of Pilates matwork and general Pilates philosophies as it relates to the use of the Bosu. Since the entire Bosulates exercise repertoire is a version of Pilates’ original mat and equipment exercises, a strong foundation in Pilates is recommended. The 1-day format serves as education time, personal practice time and practice teaching time. A comprehensive manual/study guide is included in the course. Students obtain a thorough understanding of all levels of the program and adaptations for pregnancy and several postural deviations. Postural assessment and alignment will be addressed throughout the course as the fundamental principles behind the exercises. Students will be given enough information to teach beginner and intermediate levels of Bosulates classes or to work with an individual patient. Emphasis is placed on developing teaching skills, hands-on training competence and postural self-improvement for demonstration purposes.
This workshop offers 9 PIA continuing education credits. Cec’s may be available for PT/PTA’s. Call for state approvals. STUDENTS MAY BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE BOSU.
